Our History

ROTCO SACCO Society Ltd was established in 2019 as a sustainability vehicle following the successful implementation of the 6Ts Water Project, which benefited over 870 households in Nakuru.

During meetings involving Rotarians from Rotary Club of Nakuru, Rotary Club of Hoorn, RCC beneficiaries, facilitators, and artisans, it was agreed that there was a need for a structured financial institution that would support long-term planning, financing, and empowerment of members. The solution was the formation of a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society.

The SACCO was founded with an initial contribution of KES 100 per member per month. Members were drawn from RCC beneficiaries, facilitators, and artisans. The First Annual General Meeting was held on November 1st, 2019, at P.dE Kenya Ltd grounds, attended by over 200 RCC members, Rotarians, facilitators, and the County Cooperative Officer. A 7-member management committee was elected.

After registration, the SACCO opened a bank account with Cooperative Bank – Nakuru West Branch. Soon after, KES 4 million was transferred to the SACCO to support microfinance activities. To ensure efficiency and transparency, ROTCO SACCO invested in a digital system integrated with Safaricom M-Pesa and banking systems, allowing members to save, borrow, and repay via mobile phone.

Today, ROTCO SACCO continues to empower members through structured savings, accessible credit, and cooperative principles rooted in sustainability and accountability.

To be a sustainable and trusted cooperative empowering members to achieve financial growth, stability, and shared prosperity.

To mobilize savings, provide affordable and accessible credit, and deliver innovative digital financial services that strengthen our members and the communities we serve.
